MINISTRY OF JUSTICE, CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZEALAND

Inside Diversity has worked on projects with the NZ Family Court Judges on the impact of diversity within the judicial setting.  The professional development training delivered to the Judges focused on raising awareness of the cultural diversity within NZ, impact of unconscious bias in the legal setting and building cultural competency as an individual and as an organisation.  The training showcased examples of bias impacting decision making, the lack of adequate systems and processes to effectively work with the diverse society within NZ, and the importance of self awareness at work.  These sessions were highly successful and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive by all participants.

COATS CONFERENCE 2017, SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

8 June, Sydney Convention Centre

Anukool Sathu was invited by the Council of Australsasian Tribunals as an international guest speaker to deliver couple of sessions on diversity & building cultural competence. One of the sessions focused on the area of individual cultural competence and how it impacts the effectiveness of service delivery within the judicial system and society as a whole. It focused on the elements of cognitive heuristics, unconscious bias and impact of culture in today’s world.

Anukool also ran a workshop session aimed at getting leaders to build organisational competence in area of cultural diversity, acknowledging the social inequity that currently exists and the steps an organisation can take to make sure they are effectively meeting the needs of wider society. This workshop allowed leaders to think outside the box on real life scenarios that occur in their industry, an identify actions they can take to make positive change take place.
